The Open Book Project is a public research wall at George Mason University. The project invites international artists, curators and scholars to contribute selections from their research for public display. Each participant provides a series of quotes on a theme relevant to their professional inquiry. The project exhibits these quotes on a 10 x 30 foot chalkboard wall in a hallway of the School of Art. By displaying insights into professional research within the everyday university environment, the project cultivates chance encounters with new information, therefore creating avenues for intellectual inquiry and prompting student involvement in critical dialogues.
